Another 29% say there isn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>10 Reasons Why Social Media is Important in SEO<\/p>\n<p>The impact of social media on SEO is more complicated than a simple yes\/no answer can explain.<\/p>\n<p>For example,\u00a0Shufti Pro\u2019s Damien Martin explains that \u201cBing certainly ranks pages with more shares higher than pages with fewer shares.\u201d Bing\u2019s Webmaster Guidelines\u00a0confirm that assertion. So, at least when it comes to Bing, social shares definitely play a part in SEO.<\/p>\n<p>Google, on the other hand, has specifically stated that\u00a0social media isn\u2019t a direct ranking factor.<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0several studies\u00a0have found that there\u2019s a correlation between social shares and rankings. Then, use social to tailor your post to promote to the people searching for that information.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chris Hornak of\u00a0Blog Hands\u00a0recommends \u201cusing a tool like AnswerThePublic to uncover questions that are already being searched for on Google.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And Roberto Severino of\u00a0Adword Vigilante\u00a0recommends this process: \u201cGo through 3-4 of your largest competitors, look at some of their top pages in Ahrefs, and run a crawl in Screaming Frog so you can integrate it with Ahrefs\u2019s API.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen, take their top-performing posts and keywords and plug them into that tool, and filter by low difficulty and high search volume.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce you have this done and created the content, it will be much easier to use social media to promote the content and have greater confidence in knowing this is what people have an interest in when it comes to your industry and niche.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s no second guessing when you approach social media and SEO with a logical, analytical approach like this,\u201d Severino says.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>SEO Best Practices Enable Social Search Success<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cPeople use social media networks to not only to initiate communication but also to obtain information,\u201d says Alayna Okerlund of\u00a0BestCompany.com. \u201cBasically, social media is growing as a unique search engine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn order to help your content rank on major search engines like Google, you conduct keyword research and implement those keywords in your content. It\u2019s imperative that your content keeps the user top-of-mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSearch goes beyond Google,\u201d says\u00a0MediaSesh\u2019s Christina Brodzky. \u201cAnywhere there is a search box, SEO is there. Social search is no different.\u201d<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Technical SEO Leads to Better Social Performance and Tracking<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cOne of the most important tips for leveraging SEO and social media together is tracking and monitoring how visitors from social media interact with your website,\u201d says\u00a0Rockay\u2019s Bojan Azap. \u201cGoogle Analytics and tracking URLs are the key integrals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of the most effective SEO techniques involve implementing various schema\u2014whether it be microdata or Javascript\/JSON\u2014on the webpages and elements you are trying to rank,\u201d says Steve Yanor of\u00a0Sky Alphabet Social Media.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s critical that your social properties (bios, outbound links) and the links you share on social that relate to your website are coded properly and test correctly. This means that you have to ensure that your Facebook Pixels, Twitter tracking code, and LinkedIn tracking codes are installed and configured properly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn sites that are not WordPress (Squarespace, Wix), this can be a real problem. LinkedIn has new tracking codes and a new ads manager, so prior to launching any campaign, you need to make sure LinkedIn is receiving the data from your website.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the only way you will be able to build a custom audience, which is crucial for success over time because with this primary audience you can build lookalike audiences and build frequency as you change up the creative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>How to Successfully Combine SEO and Social Media For Better Results<\/p>\n<p>To make social media and SEO work together, Gabriella Sannino of\u00a0Level343\u00a0says it\u2019s important to \u201cconnect the dots.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s amazing how many people don\u2019t. They have social accounts but don\u2019t have them on their websites. They set blog posts for sharing but don\u2019t add their social account to the share. They have a blog but never share the blog posts on their social accounts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMake use of the accounts you have, connecting them together to develop a social strategy and increase your brand awareness and reputation,\u201d Sannino says.<\/p>\n<p>So, what are some ways to better connect the dots between SEO and social media efforts? Our respondents offered these tips.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Align Your Content and Social Media Teams<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cToo often, SEO and social media activity aren\u2019t linked up because it\u2019s handled by different people or departments,\u201d says Dan Thornton of\u00a0TheWayoftheWeb. \u201cAs a result, the best you can hope for might be a Tweet or Facebook post when a new article is published.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut what should happen is that the improvements you\u2019re making for SEO should be supported by regular social media promotions, and vice versa,\u201d Thornton says.<\/p>\n<p>Roger West\u2019s Samantha Simon agrees: \u201cStop siloing social media and start merging it into your SEO strategy. In today\u2019s digital landscape, social media, and SEO work together.\u201d<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li>Share Your SEO Content on Social Media<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cThe best way to boost success in both social media and SEO is to share your content across all social media channels,\u201d says\u00a0Ooma\u2019s Craig De Borba.<\/p>\n<p>Several respondents agree that this is one of the easiest ways to integrate your social and SEO efforts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cShare your new blog posts on all of your social media accounts. This way, the post gains visibility (great for SEO) and your social media accounts become active with valuable and useful information for your target audience.\u201d (Jeremy Lawlor,\u00a0Active Business Growth)<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhen users share content from your Facebook Page or Group, it shows that you are an expert, an authority, and a trustworthy source. This helps bolster the momentum of SEO efforts.\u201d (Shannon Doyle,\u00a0Page 1 Solutions)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li>Make Sure SEO Content is Optimized for Sharing<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cMake sure each piece of content you create includes images that can easily be repurposed on social media,\u201d says\u00a0CoSchedule\u2019s Ben Sailer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis entails creating search-optimized content with social media in mind from the start, with visual assets that can stand on their own with interesting statistics, charts, quotes, or other items that can still make sense outside of their original context within the post.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis can help your content succeed both on social media and organic search without a ton of extra effort,\u201d Sailer says.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1734 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/ten30media.com\/sapnew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/SEO-and-Social-Media5_edited-300x181.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ten30media.com\/sapnew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/SEO-and-Social-Media5_edited-300x181.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ten30media.com\/sapnew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/SEO-and-Social-Media5_edited.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Chaz Van de Motter of\u00a0Elite Marketing Studios\u00a0recommends \u201ctaking the blog posts that you use to create inbound leads via SEO and making a YouTube explainer video around that piece of content.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom there, you can not only embed the video on your blog to bolster the strength of the SEO, but you can also shorten the video and use it as viral social media content that will, in turn, call your audience to action and bring more traffic back to your blog and website.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis approach has helped us increase the time users spend on our site, and it aids in the consistency of our social media content strategy,\u201d Van de Motter says.<\/p>\n<p>And\u00a0Miguel Piedrafita\u00a0says that \u201crepurposing existing content\u00a0in a better medium for social media is a big win. For example, I use Blogcast to automatically generate audio versions of my articles, which I then share on Twitter. I\u2019ve managed to get a lot of engagement and positive feedback with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li>Cross-Promote on Both Channels<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cCross-promoting and sharing content and media across both social media and SEO is the most effective way to have both shine,\u201d says\u00a0With Clarity\u2019s Slisha Kanakriya.<\/p>\n<p>One way to cross-promote, as\u00a0Trickle\u2019s Chris Davis explains, is to \u201csimply assure that each of your social media profiles provides users with a link leading them directly to your website.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another, recommended by Andrew Swindlehurst of\u00a0AHM Installations, is to \u201cembed social media posts and statuses within blog posts and articles. Not only does this link to your social media pages, but it also increases the chances that someone will click and visit them, resulting in a follow, like, or comment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s also a good idea to ensure you have a sidebar on your blogs that makes it easy for readers to follow you on social media. By doing this you can easily gain extra followers without having to do much extra work,\u201d Swindlehurst says.<\/p>\n<p>Alexis Soer of\u00a0Elite Digital\u00a0agrees and says that \u201csharing your relevant social media posts via linking to them from your blog posts is a strategic way of taking your target audience to another one of your marketing channels without it being too blatant that this is your goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li>Make It Easy for People to Share Your Posts<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-1728 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/ten30media.com\/sapnew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/SEO-and-Social-Media6-300x67.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"67\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ten30media.com\/sapnew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/SEO-and-Social-Media6-300x67.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ten30media.com\/sapnew\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/SEO-and-Social-Media6.jpg 624w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important to make sure blog posts and content are easy to share,\u201d says Chris Martin of\u00a0FlexMR. \u201cPull out important quotes and create links that auto share these quotes to social platforms with a single click.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe more frequently an article is shared on social channels (and subsequently visited), the stronger signals it will be sending to search engines.\u201d<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li>Take Advantage of Two-Way Retargeting<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>\u201cSEO and social media are the one-two punch of marketing, and one tip to use them both is to utilize two-way retargeting,\u201d says Andrew Holland of\u00a0Zoogly Media. \u201cTwo-way retargeting is all about making sure you use both audiences to grow the traffic to the other platform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor example, say you create a viral video for Facebook. The next time you publish an article, you can boost that post to those who engaged with your video. This will give you a great chance to get more traffic to your website from a targeted audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reverse applies, too. When you get organic traffic to your website via SEO, you can retarget those people using your Facebook Pixel with content and ads that you create natively on the Facebook platform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost business owners only focus on retargeting visitors who visit their website.
